FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Bringing your dog to Day Care can be an exciting and overwhelming step for both you and your furry friend, Paws n Play Doggy Day Care SA want to make this change as enjoyable and beneficial for all!

WHAT ARE YOUR OPENING HOURS?

Our opening hours are between 6:30AM - 6:00PM Monday to Friday.

CAN I BUY A PACKAGE?

Yes, packages are available ranging from 5 visit passes to 50 visit passes. All our packages can be found on our website.

CAN I VISIT BEFORE ENROLLING?

We encourage you to come to have a look at our facility from our viewing window to minimise disruption to our furry friends. The best time to visit is outside of the busy drop off and pick up time with our preferences being between 9:30am-3pm or by appointment.

WHAT DO I DO ONCE I HAVE ENROLLED MY DOG?

You can book in for a half day on a day that suits you. Not all dogs are suited or will enjoy the day care environment so this induction is a short session where we will get some more information about your dog including personality, likes and dislikes, traits and determine if the doggy day care environment will be suitable for your dog.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

Please ensure your dog is wearing a secure fitting collar and is on a lead whilst entering and exiting Paws n Play Doggy Day Care SA. We generally ask you to leave any other personal items such as toys or bedding at home.

WHAT TIME CAN I DROP OFF AND PICK UP MY DOG?

You can select any drop off time and pick up time between our opening hours of 6:30am – 6pm. Our half day visits are up to 5 hours, full-day visits are 5+ hours.

WILL YOU FEED MY DOG?

We reward dogs for fair play and good manners. You may purchase a lunch order of chicken casserole or you are more than welcome to bring in their food from home. We will place them in their own space to enjoy their lunch.

CAN MY DOG GO OUTSIDE?

Our facility features indoor play spaces only, but we are fully air-conditioned and spacious enough to satisfy any dog’s energy needs.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY DOG IS SICK OR BECOMES INJURED?

If your dog is not acting its normal self or shows symptoms of potential illness such as diarrhoea, vomiting, discharge from the eyes, limping etc. in the lead up to your visit, we ask that you postpone your booking. Whilst in our care, if your dog has two loose eliminations, you will be called to collect your dog.

Your dog will always be supervised but there is still a small chance that the unexpected may happen when dogs play such as nicks, scratches, or abrasions. There is always an attendant who is trained in first aid, and you will be notified but, if necessary, we will take your dog to our associated veterinary practice nearby.

WHAT HAPPENS IF A DOG BECOMES AGGRESSIVE?

Our team are constantly providing supervision and monitoring behaviour for any signs of disruption. In the instance that behaviour exceeds normal play fighting, attendants will step in immediately and separate the dogs for some quiet time to help redirect their focus. If a problem cannot be resolved or there becomes a threat to other dogs or attendants, the dog may not be suited to continue in the dog daycare environment.

WILL YOU LET ME KNOW HOW MY DOG IS DOING DURING THE DAY?

Yes, we will send you an update during the day with how your pooch has been spending their day.

HOW OFTEN ARE THE PENS CLEANED?

To ensure our dogs are kept healthy, we maintain a strict hygiene policy which starts in the early morning hours and finishes at night every day we are open. This includes cleaning of not only the pens but bedding, toys, flooring, and water bowls; sometimes multiple times a day.

WHAT VACCINE DOES MY DOG NEED?

We require all dogs to be up to date with their C5 immunisation in line with our vaccination policy. Puppies from 12 weeks of age and older are allowed to come to daycare providing they've had their first C5 Vaccination.

DOES MY DOG NEED TO BE DESEXED?

New requirements contained in the Dog and Cat Management Act 1995 (SA) now stipulate that desexing is compulsory in South Australia by the age of 6 months for all dogs born after 1 July, 2018. There are some exceptions, and in which will offer a conditional, continued enrolment when a Veterinary Medical Exemption is provided. Puppies younger than this are welcome to attend while still entire.

ARE THERE ANY BREED RESTRICTIONS?

While there are no banned breeds in South Australia there are prescribed breeds that have restrictions placed upon them. The prescribed breeds are: American Pit Bull Terrier, Fila Braziliero, Japanese Tosa, Dog Argentinia & Presa Canario. These dogs are not permitted for care at Paws n Play Doggy Day Care SA.
